Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Willowbrook is excited about the upcoming year. We have 29 teams this season and we are looking forward to watching all of them!

2 of our coaches, Rich Richardson and Gordon Morrison, our Tournament Director, have been chosen to officiate the 2010 Special Olympics National Games. The games will be held in Nebraska in July and only a select number of referees from around the nation were chosen to officiate. Congratulations to both of them!

Congratulations are also in order for Mirela Lindeen. She coached with us for many years and had a beautiful baby boy, Anthony, on Monday, December 28th. Congratulations to Mirela and Tony!

This weekend we have another tournament at Willowbrook. We have 12s, 13s, 14s, and 15s playing this weekend. Good luck to all the teams!

December at Willowbrook

This past weekend was a busy one at Willowbrook. On Friday we dealt with the snow and slush as did everyone else around Houston.


On Saturday we started our tournament later then normal due to weather concerns, but it ran very smoothly. With TRV winning the tournament and Willowbrook 15 Red coming in a close 2nd. Sunday went just as well with Willowbrook 18 Red winning the 18s and Willowbrook 17 Red winning the 17s. Congratulations to all the teams!

Sundays at Willowbrook

Willowbrook Alum

Last Wednesday, The University of Texas played Texas A&M in College Station. Many of our players and families went and watched the game. Jennifer Doris plays for UT and is a former Willowbrook player. She did a great job and we are so proud of all her hard work and dedication.

Fall League is Over

We all had a great time with the Fall League, but it has come to an end. All the teams learned a lot and had a ton of fun. Here are pictures of all the teams.








Many of the players are continuing on with us either in our Gators program or our Juniors Club program. We can't wait to watch them progress even more and really learn the game of volleyball.

We are staying busy around Willowbrook this September.

Fall League is in full swing. Every Monday and Wednesday we have a bunch of 2nd - 7th graders in the gym learning and playing volleyball. It is great to have them learning proper technique and putting what they learn into game situations. We have three more weeks of the fall league and are excited to watch them continue to learn.

Sunday Skills Sessions are also ongoing. Every Sunday during the fall, from 2pm-4pm, we hold these sessions where players can come in and get some position training. It is great for the girlss to get some extra training that they may not be getting in school ball.

This coming Saturday there is a really neat going on at Willowbrook.

Wrestling

This past Friday we had the World of Wrestling Texas at Willowbrook. It was an exciting night packed with entertaining action. The wrestlers put on a great performance. The best part of the event was that it was very family friendly. There is no profanity used and it is an all around good time.

I can't believe how fast time is flying. It is already September!

We have a lot of things going on this month at Willowbrook. Tomorrow night, Friday the 4th, we are having Pro Wrestling at 7pm. It should be very entertaining! Check out the flyer on our webpage, Click Here!

Next week we are hosting the Patriots' Day Junior College Volleyball Tournament. It will be held on September 11th and 12th with games all day. There will be plenty to watch and we will also be having autpgraph sessions with the players. The Thursday night before the game, September 10th, at 7pm, we are hosting a Combine for Juniors and Seniors that are unsigned. If you are interested in the tournament or combine, you can go to our website and click on the links.

September 13th will be the start to Sunday Skills Sessions. These will run from 2-4 and it a great chance for players to get some position training and work on technical skills. Register Today!

September 14th starts our Gator Instructional Fall League. The league runs for 4 weeks on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm-8pm. The league is for 2nd-7th graders. You can register online today for the league!

August 2009

Summer is winding down, but Willowbrook is staying busy. We still have a lot going on at the Complex and we hope you will join us!

This week at Willowbrook and next week we have the Last Chance Camp happening. This is a great camp for those players heading into 7th or 8th grade and are wanting to try out for their junior high teams. You can still sign up for next week's camp if you are interested. Also this week we have make up TRYOUTS for our club teams. We still have spots left on many of our teams and we would love for you to be a part of the club. Tryouts are this Thursday, August 13th at 6pm at Willowbrook. We also have tryouts for 16s-18s on Sunday, August 16th at 2pm.

Fall League sign ups are in full swing. The Gator Fall League begins on September 14th and runs for 4 weeks. This is for players in 2nd-7th grade. The league gives them a place for instruction as well as a chance to play other girls their age. To sign up for the Fall League you can Click Here!

Also coming up soon is the Willowbrook Patriots' Day Junior College Tournaments. Coming September 11th and 12th we will be hosting numerous Junior College teams including Blinn, San Jacinto, Miami-Dade, and many more!

More Summer League Finals

Wednesday night we had the Junior Varsity/Varsity Finals for Summer League. There was some tough competition in the final few rounds. The Black Cobras and the Lady Lions tied for third, TX Elite placed second, and Katy Red won the division.

Thursday night we had the finals for 8th grade. The Pink Zebras and the Rangers made it to the semi finals and ended up getting 3rd place. The Lucky 13s placed second and V-8 won. Here are a couple pictures of the 8th grade Finals teams.

Summer League Finals

This is Finals week for Summer League here at Willowbrook. On Monday we had the Freshman finals. The Final results consisted of JVIL 14 and OutRageous! tying for third, The Janitors placing second, and Willowbrook 14 White winning the division. Tuesday night we had the 5th/6th grade and 7th grade finals. For the 5th/6th grade division we had the Pumas and the Individual Team 1 tying for third, the Red Hots 11 Red placing second, and the Red Hots 11 Black winning the tournament. For the 7th grade division we had Willowbrook 12 Silver and Red Hots 12 Red tying for third, Cypress Elite coming in second, and Splat Attack winning the division.

Willowbrook held tryouts last week for their club volleyball teams. We had a bunch of players come out and have formed some awesome teams. We still have a few spots available at different age groups so if you missed tryouts for some reason, you can still play. You can email Scott at scott@willowbrooksports.com and set up a private evaluation. We will also be holding make up tryouts soon so keep checking the website for those dates.

We also are in the full swing of camps. We still have another month of camps available for most ages so Register Today! The Camp information as well as registration is available through the website, www.willowbrooksports.com.

Next week is the last week of Summer League. We have had a great time watching all of the teams play and enjoy the evenings. We will have a single elimination, tournament style bracket set up for next week and will crown the winners of each age group. JO's (Nationals) in Miami

We have finally returned from Miami where we had a great time with all three of our teams.

17 Red started playing last Sunday and placed 19th overall in the 17 Open division. They were in a tough pool and a strong division in general so we are very proud of how they did.

15 Red began two days later on Tuesday. They did great placing third in their pool after the first two days. They then went on to win their 3 team pool the third day and barely missed going to the gold bracket for the final day. Playing well they ended up in 10th place overall, 2nd in the silver bracket.

14 Red played well all 4 of their days. They advanced to the Silver bracket for the final day and ended up winning the whole bracket. This placed them 9th in 14 National division.

AAU Championships-Part 2!

The AAU Championships are officially over. Our 16 Red team did fantastic. They won everything the first two days. They then advanced to the Championship Division and ended up placing 9th overall! Our 17 White team played great as well. They ended up getting 3rd place in the Consolation Division. Congratulations to both of these teams on a fantastic season.

We have three more teams still practicing and preparing for their final tournament. Our 14 Red, 15 Red, and 17 Red teams all play next week in Miami for Junior Nationals (Juniors Olympics). We are excited to watch them and see how they finish up in Miami.

AAU Championships-Part 1

We have two teams that just finished play in Orlandp for the AAU Championships.

Our 12 Red team did great, going 2-1 the 1st and 2nd days and making it into the Classic Bracket. Here is a picture of the girls getting excited about the tournament!

Our 13 Red team has also been in Orlando for the tournament. They played well all four days, making it to the finals of the Consolation Bracket.

Congratulations to both teams on a successful year!

Our 16 Red and 17 White teams are headed to Orlando as we speak, to begin play tomorrow at AAUs. We wish them the best of luck, and can't wait to see how they do.

Congratulations

A big congratulations is in order for Katie Messing! She has played on our 17 Red team and has now made the US Girls' Youth National Volleyball Team!

Katie will be heading to Thailand with the team at the end of the month to compete in an International tournament. Katie is the 2nd Willowbroook player to make the Youth National Team. Jennifer Doris, now at the University of Texas, also competed on this team before going off to college.

Willowbrook is very proud of Katie and excited for what the future holds for her. Congrats!

Summer is Here!

We are picking up speed again here at Willowbrook.

We are getting so excited about the upcoming Summer League. We have a ton of teams signed up and are getting more in every day. It should be a fun filled summer for all these players. They will get the chance to have fun, keep there hands on the ball, be competitive, and hang out with friends.

It's May Already!

This weekend we had a great Regionals tournament. Our 12 Red team played in the club division and got 1st place!!! Our 13 Red team made it into the top 16 while our White and Silver teams did well also. 14 Red took 2nd place in the bid division and booked themselves a trip to Miami for Nationals. 14 White and 15 White both played well as did 16 White. 15 Red took 3rd place in the bid division making it to Nationals as well. 16 Red lost their challenge match but won the Silver division. 17 White had a great tournament as well, just falling short of getting a bid.

Last Weekend in April

We are coming to the end of the club season and we are staying busy. This past weekend we had 5 teams travel to Reno to compete in a Qualifier. All of the teams did well, making it into the Gold pools or division on Sunday. The 18s ended up placing 5th and 17 Red placed 3rd.

This past week we also had Mallory and Jackie spray paint their volleyballs at Willowbrook. Jackie has committed to Colorado School of Mines and Mallory has committed to Midwestern State. We are so excited for both of them.

Lone Star - Weekend 2

This past weekend we had 8 teams up in Dallas competing in the 2nd weekend of the Lone Star Classic. Our 15 Red team made it to the Silver bracket and placed 17th out of 184 teams. 15 White also did well ending up 82nd. 14 Red made it to the Gold division and ended up 15th. 14 White played well and placed 88th. 13 Red placed 25th, 13 Silver placed 97th and 13 White placed 103rd. Our 12 Red team also competed well placing 41st.

Willowbrook hosted a 17/18 tournament this weekend as well. Our 17 Blue team and our 18 White team both competed and made it to the finals. They played each other and 18 White ended up in 1st Place.

This coming up weekend we have 5 teams heading to Reno for a Qualifier as well as our 14 and 13 local teams competing in tournaments. Good Luck to everyone!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with their families!

We had 4 teams that competed in the Lone Star Classic this past weekend. 16 Red played hard and made it into the Silver bracket. They ended up 23rd. 17 Red made it to the Gold division, playing Tornados 17 Mizuno for 3rd place. 17 Red won in team, ending up in 3rd place and gaining a bid to Nationals! Congrats to them. 17 White worked hard and was in the Bronze division yesterday where they ended in 31st place. 18 White competed hard as well and placed 82nd.

Good job teams! This weekend we have Lone Star for the younger age divisions. We have 8 teams travelling to Dallas to compete and we wish them the best of luck.

April has Arrived!

It is already April and we are in the middle of the qualifiers now.

This past weekend our 15 Red team went to Atlanta and placed 19th. Our 18 Red team competed in the Sho-Me Qualifier in Kansas City and they placed 4th!

We also had many teams competing in the Power League Finals. 12 Red played at Willowbrook and they ended up in 2nd place!

12 White tied for 3rd in the Silver division, 12 Silver got 2nd in the Bronze division and 12 Blue placed 7th in Flight 2.

13 White and Silver tied for 4th in the Silver division and 13 Blue placed 2nd in Flight 2. 14 White placed 2nd in the Bronze division, Blue tied for 3rd in the Bronze, Green won their Flight and Silver tied for 7th in theirs. 15 White got 2nd in the tournament and Blue tied for 5th in the Silver division. 16 White got 4th place in the tournament and 16 Blue tied for 5th in the Bronze division.

The past two weekends have been very busy for Willowbrook teams, and it will only get busier. On March 14th and 15th, Cross Court was held in Houston and we had 15 teams participate.

12 Red made it to the Gold bracket and ended up getting 13th place.

Our 13s did well also. Blue got 41st, White got 37th, Silver got 23rd, and Red won 2nd place!

14 Silver and Green both place 61st, Blue got 31st, White got 7th and Red got 3rd in the Open division.

15 Red got 2nd in the Open division and in the Club division White got 7th and Blue got 31st.

16 Blue place 27th in their tournament and 17 Blue placed 25th.

This past weeked, the Tour Finals were held in San Antonio. 16 Red placed 13th in the tournament, 18 Red placed 5th, and our 17 Red placed 1st!!

Congratulations to all of our teams for improving and playing so great the past few weekends.

Spring is Here!

Willowbrook had a great time this past weekend. We hosted a 14s tournament as well as a 17s tournament. Our 14 White team won the 14s tournament, with 14 Blue coming in a close 2nd. The 14 Green team also made it into the Gold bracket. In the 17s tournament our 17 White team won the tournament!

The Texas Championship Series Finals were this weekend as well. All 3 of our teams participating in the tournament did well. Our 13 Red team ended with an even record, in 12th place. Our 14 Red team won all of their matches during the finals and won the Silver division! Our 15 Red team won their pool and ended up in 3rd place overall. Great job to all of these teams for their hard work!

Another stop on the Tour of Texas took place in Dallas this past weekend. Our 18 Red team won 2 out of 3 matches, staying in the gold division. 17 Red won 2 out of 3 matches as well placing them in 2nd place overall. 16 Red had a great weekend, moving up from the bronze division to the silver division.

Our 12s and Gators played in a Spike Sport tournament this weekend. 12 Red ended up getting 2nd place in the tournament which is awesome.

We are going full blast this volleyball season. We have tournaments every weekend at Willowbrook and teams playing places every weekend as well.

All of the Willowbrook teams are playing very well. This past weekend we held a 16's tournament at Willowbrook and our 16 Red team took 1st place!

Tournament Times

This weekend we had many of our teams playing.

15 Red, 14 Red, and 13 Red played in the first TCS Stop this weekend in Dallas. 13 Red played well and remained in their division. 14 Red lost their first match, but came back strong winning their next 3. They beat Southwest, TAV and then Alamo in their cross over match. 15 Red did the same as 14 Red, losing the first match then winning the next 3. They also beat Alamo in their cross over match. Congratulations to all 3 teams on playing well this weekend.

The 12s and 14s played in the Willowbrook tournament. All of the teams played very well. 12 Red placed 2nd in the tournament and 14 White placed 2nd as well. The Gators also played for their first time in a tournament. All 3 of the teams had a great time and improved throughout the day. On Sunday Willowbrook hosted the 11 and under tournament that our 11 and under d evelopmental teams played in. The team played well and definitely learned a lot throughout the day.

The 13 White and Silver teams played in the AVA tournament in Dickinson. Both teams did well with Silver making it to the semifinals.

Happy 2009!

Happy New Year! It has already been a great 2009 for Willowbrook and I know that it can only get better.

This past weekend we had 10 teams competing in the Tour of Texas and TCS Qualifiers in Austin. All of the teams had some great competition and played well. Our 13-18 Red teams all qualified for either to Tour or TCS so we are very excited for them!
